Experiential Learning Philosophy

Experiential learning is about providing a novel and physical environment in which learning can be accelerated by relating theory to practice in situations where concealed behaviours and attitudes become quickly visible. With experiential learning situations are complex and certainly not dull.

Our experiential learning philosophy is based on three simple precepts:

	People learn by doing. Therefore all our action centred learning programmes are interactive in the sense that they utilise experiential learning methods, keyed to specific indoor and outdoor tasks and activities, and underpined by theory.

	People like to be treated as mature individuals with respect and not patronised or pampered or treated as a disposable resource. Our action centred learning courses recognise that it is people who plan, coordinate, and direct the organisation's resources and it is they that will ultimately determine the success or failure of the organisation.

	People want to know how they are doing what they need to do to improve and how they can apply acquired knowledge and skills back in the workplace. Reviews therefore sit at the heart of experiential learning.

Our action centred learning programmes place emphasis on the participants self managing the event based on how they best function as a team. Participants are encouraged to set their own parameters, for review purposes, with our trainers acting as facilitators. In this way experiential learning cultivates empowerment.
